In their first few months puppies are cute, boisterous, heart-warming, challenging, absolutely adorable and sometimes super frustrating. These baby months are also THE most important in setting your pup up to be a calm, confident and well-mannered pooch, but also where behavioural issues can begin.
Obedience training and social imprinting (socialisation) are vital for a puppy to grow into a confident and well-behaved dog. Auckland is a busy and noisy place that can be overwhelming for dogs and puppies. Our puppy classes and puppy programs include comprehensive socialisation exercises to help your puppy to feel safe and confident in different environments, with a variety of smells, sounds, sights, people, and other dogs.
Our Puppy Classes will help you to understand your puppy’s behaviour and psychology, which is vital to building a positive relationship between you and your pup. Puppies perceive the world through instinct, body language, spatial boundaries and scent, rather than the words and emotion humans use. By learning to communicate effectively with your puppy and demonstrating confident and consistent leadership, you can help your pup feel more secure and reduce unwanted behaviours such as barking, digging and chewing, and negative mind states such as anxiety and reactivity. Additionally, our puppy classes teach positive reinforcement training methods that will also help to increase your pup’s obedience and the bond between you.
Wolf Walks Puppy Classes and In-Home Puppy Programs give you the tools to teach your pup how to become a take-anywhere dog, not one that stresses you at home or embarrasses you in public. We want you to succeed in raising a relaxed, polite dog who listens to you and is fun to be with.
We hold puppy classes in Mt Albert for new pups 8-16 weeks (Cub Kindy), and for adolescent pups 4-8 months (Teen Wolves) who have either missed out on some vital lessons or have forgotten it all!
*Optional extra – pre-class in-home 1:1 consultation. During this consultation we will set you up with the tools you need to shift your puppy into a learning mindset, cover management in and out of the home, and problem-solve any issues you are having.

1:1 Puppy Program
Our in-home puppy training and management program helps you get it right, from the moment you decide to bring a puppy into your life. We offer in-person 1:1 puppy training in your home where we can manage behaviours in the environment they occur in. This program is great for busy people who can’t make puppy class times, as we book sessions around your schedule. For puppies who are reactive, fearful or over-excitable around other puppies, a puppy class may not be suitable. A puppy in a high state of anxiety / stress / excitement / fear is not in a state to learn. An in-home puppy program will give you the same leadership skills and obedience training, in an environment your pup is able to learn in.
Investment $379* for four in-home sessions
*a $40 travel fee is applicable for travel further than 8km from our Mt Albert base
